What is "survival"? The dictionary definition says: sur·viv·al [ser-vahy-vuhl] noun 1 .the act or fact of surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstances. 2. a person or thing that survives or endures, especially an ancient custom, observance, belief, or the like. 3. Anthropology (no longer in technical use) the persistence of a cultural trait, practice, or the like long after it has lost its original meaning or usefulness. Adjective-- of, pertaining to, or for use in surviving, especially under adverse or unusual circumstances: survival techniques.
Well, in my personal opinion, there is a lot more to it than that. Besides the physical aspect of being put into or choosing to live in a survivalist position, there is also a mental aspect to it. An article I posted a while back covered the "dark side" of survival that no one wants to talk about. In my opinion, whoever wrote it had his head up some one else’s arse. I don't care how much we prepare, prep or say we are "prepared" for the SHTF, no one is ever ready for the reality on every level. If my reasoning hurts any ones feelings, I could apologize, but I would be lying.
So, what does the "shit hitting the fan" even mean? We can break it down to a personal level: loss of a job, becoming homeless, wife leaves you, the chick you took home from the bar has a winky, or even minor things can have traumatic effects on different people. On a national or wide spread level: war, EMP blast, pandemic, economic collapse, terrorist attacks, martial law and probaly a few other things.
Let's just deal with a few of these for now. Let's start with who ever is the POTUS, declaring martial law, which would create the economic disaster of our lives, and lead to the next civil war/revolution. What is the first thing that would happen? Mass panic: everyone would be looking out for themselves and their families, which is a very understandable and natural reaction. I would do the same thing, and am not placing any fault or judgments, just trying to point out some "realistic fkn facts" that no one wants to talk about. When the shit hit's the fan, it's going to be everyone looking out for their own, and that is to be expected.
No matter how much you think you have prepped, prepared, stock piled food and ammo, it is just not going to be enough or what you think you were getting ready for. I appreciate everyone who says they will fight for America, but when it comes down to it, you are going to be fighting each other for a can of spam., fresh water and a generic tube of Neosporin. Quite honestly, I am tired of people screaming they are ready for Revolution. No, you are not. I am not trying to disrespect any one, but if any combat Vets want to chime in, you know what I am talking about- once you have been in a fire fight, you kind of want to avoid any more. You know you don't win the war by dying in the first battle, which just makes you a martyr. There are right and wrong ways to doing everything.
Let's talk about "militias" for a moment. I have nothing but respect for them, for what they are trying to do, and what they stand for. But what is a militia? It used to mean a group that protected the local community and then State. Then it became the National Guard, who I respect their service to God, Country and Family very much. But if you look at all the videos and blogs by "local militias", sorry, just a bunch of gun toting nut jobs that want you to donate your money to them to feed their egos and fill their bank accounts, and give the real 2nd Amendment supporters a bad name. They are only going to look out for themselves when the time comes, and if you spent a year stock piling supplies, they are more than likely going to kill you and take it. True State militias will try to organize in a cohesive unit and fight for a common goal, the survival of America, not personally profit from it.
I see people all of the time saying they are ready to fight. Are we really ready? War sucks. There is a lot of damage, and the ones that suffer the most are the elderly and the children. Will I run from a fight? Hell No!! Do I always want to look for a peaceful solution? Yes please, God willing.
That’s a lot to think about, I know. I would appreciate any opinions, comments and thoughts on all of this, even if you don't agree with me. That is what makes America great, we don't all have to agree, we just need to make OUR country what it used to be.
And now on too the next phase.
So the shtf, the country is in chaos, but you were pretty prepared for it. You bugged out to your stocked cabin in the mountain, and so far you are doing ok. But Uh Oh, one day you come back from family fishing day and there is some guy in your cabin going through your food. You surprise him and he has a gun. He looks ragged, exhausted and scared. He says he doesn't want to hurt anyone, but his 2 young children have not eaten in 3 days, he isn't even going to eat, he just wants to feed his kids. Now, whatcha gonna do? Kill him for trying to make sure his kids "survive"? Give him some food and tell him not to come back? Ask him how far away they are and invite them over for beanies and weenies?
There are going to be a lot of decisions to be made. And really, how many people are really ever prepared to take a human life? It’s easy to say you can, but you’re really not going to know until it is staring you in the face. What is a justifiable reason to take someone else's life? Personally, I think of about a half a dozen off the top of my head, What about “Thou shall not kill”? Or is it “Thou shall not commit murder”? Do I want to take a human life? Hell No. Will I lose any sleep over it if I have to defending a human life? No, not if it keeps a man, woman or child safe from someone who has no value for human life.
There are many references in the Bible about reasons for killing, and even if it is justifiable, it will change you forever. Do you want your children and family to see you do something like that?
General Douglas MacArthur said “The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war”.
General George Patton said “No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country”.
They are both right. Just something for you to think about. I am not worrying about any "scars" I may get, it is going to be the children, elderly and disabled who suffer the most if there is a war on our soil. I will not be part of something that needlessly makes them suffer because of some misguided hotheads wanting to start the "revolution". There is a right and wrong way to do everything. Unnecessary bloodshed and suffering is not the right way.
Stand Strong, Stand Together, Keep the Faith
and be ready to Kick Some Ass when it's Necessary!
God Bless America, All of You and Yours.
